Noritsu Koki spends $325 million to buy DJ equipment maker AlphaTheta

Global private equity giant KKR is selling its stake in Japanese DJ equipment maker AlphaTheta (formerly known as Pioneer DJ) to photo processing machine manufacturer Noritsu Koki Co., according to Deal Street Asia. Noritsu said it will acquire all shares of AlphaTheta for 35 billion yen ($324.9 million), and will also use a 30 billion yen non-recourse loan to pay AlphaTheta’s interest-bearing debt.

The acquisition is aimed at increasing the profitability of the company’s businesses and achieving growth in the medium-term management plan, Noritsu said in a regulatory filing, the article said. The company claims a more than 60 percent market share in the global DJ equipment industry. It posted a consolidate net income of almost 3.5 billion yen in 2019, compared to 4.3 billion yen in 2018 and a loss of over 1 billion yen in 2017, the report said.
